Research Career in Earth System and Climate Sciences, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology

The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, has invited applications from BTech/BE/MTech/ME/MS/ MSc Graduates for training leading to Research Career in Earth System and Climate Sciences at Centre For Advanced Training In Earth System Sciences and Climate to be commenced in August 2011.

Eligibility:
The candidates applying for the training should possess M.Sc/MS/MTech degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry, Oceanography, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, any area of Earth Sciences or any equivalent disciplines, with Physics and Mathematics at the B.Sc level or B.Tech / B.E / M.Tech / M.E in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering with 60% or more marks at both the graduate and post-graduate level. The candidates should have passed the CSIR National Eligibility Test (NET) or the IIT-Graduate Admission Test in Engineering (GATE) qualified. Those who are appearing for the final exams for the qualifying degree or NET/GATE may also apply subject to the condition that they produce the final certificates if and when called for the interview. The applicants should be of Indian origin and the upper age limit is fixed as 28 years (30 for MTechs) as on 31 March 2011 with relaxation as per eligibility.

Rajiv Gandhi Student Research Fellowship - 2011

Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in association with Christ Nagar Educational Institutions has invited applications from 8th standard students for the Third Rajiv Gandhi Student Research Fellowship Programme - 2011.

The scheme named "Young Research Talent Search in Life Science" is essentially meant for school children to initiate and execute projects incorporating their independent thinking and creativity. A total of 10 research teams (30 students) will be selected for fellowship. Selected students are eligible to get a fellowship of Rs.4000/month in addition to the expenses required for project execution. The programme Is open to 8th standard students (2010-2011) of Kerala.

In this connection a selection test will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi on 20" February, 2011 to select the deserving students for the programme. The selection test of one hour duration will be of objective type to test the student's aptitude in biological sciences. The best 30 students selected based on state merit will be allowed to work for two weeks in an appropriate research lab of RGCB from 9th May to 20th May 2011. Upon completion of the research project, a one day presentation will be conducted at RGCB to provide an opportunity to present the salient features of their project in a poster session on 25th May, 2011. All awardees will be honored with Fellowship and citation in an official ceremony conducted at Trivandrum.

Diploma in Medical Radioisotope Techniques (DMIRT) and Diploma In Radiation Medicine (DRM) Admissions 2011

The Radiation Medicine Centre of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre has invited applications for undergoing the following post-graduate courses under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) (a Deemed University), Mumbai.
The courses equip candidates for working in Nuclear Medicine Centres. The training will comprise of a full time schedule of lectures, demonstration, practicals and apprentice programmes. Examinations will be conducted by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. Candidates should not hold any other job during the period of training, or join any other training programme.

Course No I : Diploma In Radiation Medicine (DRM)

Duration Of Training : Two Academic Years (2011-2013).

Requirements for Admission : M.B.B.S. Degree including internship of an MCI recognized Institute/University. Candidates having post-graduate medical qualification may also apply. Candidates sponsored by Medical Institutions with immediate prospect of post training employment will compete for 1 (one) seat.

Common Entrance Test (CET) : Admission criteria will be a CET (Common Entrance Test) of 200 questions in 3 hours with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CET will be based on Multiple Choice Questions and will have 200 questions at the III MBBS level. Subjects covered will be, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Internal Medicine (Cardiology, Pediatrics, Oncology), Infectious diseases, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Recent Advances in Medicine. Minimum marks to qualify will be 50%. A merit list of qualifying candidates will be made and candidates will be selected in order of merit only. The CET will be held in BARC, Trombay, Mumbai. The dates for CET will be announced later and will be available at BARC website (www.barc.gov.in).

Age Limit : Not more than 40 years as on 1st May 2011. Upper age limit can be relaxed in the case of SC/ST/OBC, sponsored candidates and PH category. The candidates with physical disabilities limited to the lower extremities, but permitting to stand and move and physically able to carry out the course requirement only will be considered.

Stipend : A Stipend of Rs.16000/- p.m. (Rupees Sixteen Thousand only) for the first year and Rs.17000/- p.m. (Rupees Seventeen Thousand only) for the second year will be given to each nonsponsored trainees. However, no stipend is admissible to sponsored trainees.

Course No. II : Diploma in Medical Radioisotope Techniques (DMIRT)

Degree with 60% and above marks on aggregate of science subjects of a recognized University with Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biophysics, B.Sc. (Nuclear Medicine Technology) or B.Sc. (Medical Radiological Technology). Those having M.Sc. degree may also apply, but they will not have any preference in selection.

Note: Candidates sponsored by institutions with immediate prospect of post training employment can apply if they have 55% aggregate marks in B.Sc. in any of the fields mentioned above. They should furnish an employment certificate from the Head of Institution stating that their salary will be paid during the training period and that they will be employed suitably following successful completion of training.

Common Entrance Test (CET) : Admission criteria will be a CET (Common Entrance Test) of 150 questions with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CET will be based on Multiple Choice Questions and will have 150 questions. Reservation/Concession:

a) Reservation: 15%, 7½% and 3% of seats shall be reserved for SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) (PH) candidates respectively. All the SC/ST and PH candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination. OBC reservation, wherever applicable, will be implemented as per the policy of each participating University.

b) Concession for Kashmiri Migrants: 10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri Migrant candidate in the entrance examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he/she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he/she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with his/her inter-se merit alongwith other candidates subject to his/her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his/her producing valid registration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidate's Kashmiri Migrant status.

Tuition Fee/ Scholarship:

Fee shall be charged from the admitted candidates as per the fee structure of the concerned University. Candidates selected for admission are generally eligible for scholarship at the rates prescribed by the Dept. of Biotechnology.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Examination

Applications have been invited in the prescribed form by All India institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi for admission to MBBS Course commencing on 1st August, 2011. Entrance Examination will be held on 01.06.2010 (Wednesday).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
(i) Candidates who have passed 12th class examination under 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English securing a minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates) aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or whose results of Class-XII are likely to be declared by 7th July, 2011 are eligible to apply.
(ii) The candidate should have attained the age of 17 (seventeen) years as on 31st December, 2011.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

The Prospectus-cum-Application Form costing Rs. 1000/- (Rs.800/- in case of SC/ST candidates) inclusive of examination fee can be obtained in the following manner:

National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are premier technical institutions of national repute, fully funded by Government of India. The Curricula and Syllabi of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by NITs are designed considering the need of different IT Firms in India and abroad which has a high job potential in IT Sector. NIMCET 2011-2012 is a national level entrance test conducted by NITs for admission to their MCA programme. The admission to first year of MCA prgoramme, offered by NIT Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal, for the year 2011-2012 will be based on the rank obtained in NIMCET2011 ONLY. Candidate's score and rank based on NIMCET 2011-2012 entrance examination is valid for admission to MCA course of participating NIT's for 2011-2012 session only. How To Apply:
MODE OF EXAMINATION:-
NIMCET2011 examination will be of two hours and question paper will consist of 120 multiple choice questions with four choices for each question in Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness and General English. Each correctly answered question will carry FOUR marks and each wrongly answered question will lead to NEGATIVE ONE mark. The candidates have to mark the responses in the OMR sheets at the time of examination. Candidates have to bring their own HB pencil, eraser and black ball point pen. Calculators, mobile phones or any other electronic gadget are not allowed in the examination hall.

WEB ENABLED ON-LINE APPLICATION FORM:-
Eligible candidates are required to fill in web enabled on-line application form from any place of their convenience. Candidates are required to create user login Id and password for themselves and should use the same as and when required. Candidates are not permitted to create multiple Ids' in any case. If there is any problem in login creation then candidate are required to contact Secretary NIMCET 2011.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Candidates are required to read the instructions carefully before filling the online application form (See Page 13). Veterinary Council of India invites applications for entrance examination for filling up 15% of total number of seats to be filled on Merit in each Government Veterinary College in India (except from Jammu& Kashmir State) from Indian Nationals for admission to 1st year of BVSc & AH course for academic session 2011-2012.

Note: - Students from the State of Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible to appear in this test, as that State has not adopted the provisions of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.

Date and Venue of Examination: Saturday, the 14th May, 2011 (time 2.00 to 5.00 PM)

Duration of Course: The duration of BVSc & AH degree course is spread over five complete academic years including a compulsory rotating internship of six months.

Eligibility: An applicant is eligible for admission to the AIPVT if the following criteria are met with: -

Nationality:   He/She is an Indian national. Since the provisions of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 have not been extended to the State of Jammu & Kashmir, candidates from that State shall not be eligible to appear in the said examination unless they submit an Affidavit in enclosed Proforma on Nonjudicial Stamp Paper of Rs 10/- duly attested by Metropolitan Magistrate/First Class Judicial Magistrate to the effect that: - They are not eligible to compete for BVSc & AH seats in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and hence, not eligible to seek admission in Veterinary Colleges of Jammu & Kashmir and They are not domicile of Jammu & Kashmir.

Note: Applications not accompanied with the required Affidavit shall be rejected without any further reference in this matter. Such Affidavits submitted by the candidates shall be verified and if found to be false, the admission of all such candidates shall be cancelled and legal proceedings initiated against them.

Essential Qualification: He/ She has passed:-

1. The Higher Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years of study the last two years of study with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Education Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 (years) educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.

OR

2. The Intermediate Science examination in science from a recognized University/Board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (which shall include a practical test in these subjects) and English.

Minimum marks: To be eligible for AIPVT, candidate must have passed any of the qualifying examinations as enumerated above. Further, he/she should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for General Category in aggregate in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English at 10+2 /Intermediate Science Examination. Provided also that to be eligible for AIPVT the candidate must have passed the aforesaid subjects individually. For the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/the Scheduled Tribes or other special category (Other Backward Classes) of students as specified by the Government from time to time, marks required for admission shall be 10% less than that prescribed for General Category.

Note: - A candidate who is taking the qualifying examination prior to the AIPVT, or whose result is awaited, may also apply and take the examination but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the BVSc & AH programme, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required percentage of marks as per the Minimum Standard of Veterinary Education Degree Course (BVSc and AH) Regulations, 2008 on or before 30th June, 2011 and submit the documentary proof during counseling, if selected.

II In pursuance of the Hon'ble Supreme Court order dated 10.4.2008 and according to the instructions issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development video MNO 1-1/2005-UIA/847 dated 20.4.2008 it has been decided to implement OBC reservation in respect of seats being contributed to the All India Quota by the Central Education Institutions only.

Age: He / She has attained or will attain the age of Seventeen (17) years as on 31st December, 2011. Candidates attaining seventeen years on 1st of January, 2012 or later will not be eligible to appear at the AIPVT.

ICAR's 16th ALL INDIA ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR ADMISSION TO BACHELOR (AIEEA-UG-2011) AND MASTER (AIEEA-PG-2011) DEGREE PROGRAMS IN AGRICULTURE AND ALLIED SCIENCES AT AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITIES FOR 2011-12.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) invites applications from Indian Nationals, in the prescribed format, for ICAR's 16th AIEEA-UG-2011 and AIEEA-PG-2011 on 100% seats at ICAR-Deemed Universities (Bachelor degree at NDRI Karnal only while Master degrees at IARI, IVRI, NDRI and CIFE), and on 15% seats (tentative) for Bachelor degrees and 25% seats (tentative) for Master degrees at State Agricultural Universities, Central Agricultural University Imphal, Central Universities with Agricultural Faculty (Banaras Hindu University, Viswa Bharati, Nagaland University and Aligarh Muslim University (for PG only)) and SHIATS Allahabad for the academic session 2011-12.

Bachelor Degree programmes (viz BSc / BTech / BFSc etc) are in the subjects of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Forestry, Food Science, Fisheries Sciences, Home Science, Sericulture, Agricultural Marketing, Banking & Co-operation, and Commercial Agriculture & Business Management.

Engineering, Home Science, Biotechnology, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Dairy Technology, Fisheries, Veterinary, and allied sciences. Based on the results of AIEEA-UG-2011 examination, National Talent Scholarships(NTS) are awarded to Bachelor degree students whereas based on the merit-rank in AIEEA-PG-2011 examination, 475 ICAR-Junior Research Fellowships(JRF) are awarded to Master's degree students. Eligibility Criteria:

1. Age:
For AIEEA-UG-2011: Between 17 and 23 years as on 31st August 2011. (UG Examination) (must have been born between 01.09.1988 to 01.09.1994).
For AIEEA-PG-2011: Not less than 19 years as on 31st August 2011. (PG Examination) (must not have been born after 01.09.1992)

2. Qualifying Examination:
2.1. For AIEEA-UG-2011:
Must have passed and obtained not less than 50% marks in aggregate for admission under General, UPS and OBC categories or 40% marks in aggregate for admission under SC, ST and PH categories in 10+2 examination or equivalent/Inter (Agriculture) with PCM/ PCB/ PCMB/ PCA/ PCH subject combinations. Candidate having compartment/ supplementary in any subject in 10+2 examination is not eligible. Candidate appearing for 10+2 examination can also apply but shall produce 10+2 pass certificate with required % marks at the time of counseling. Pass in English in 10+2 examination is essential for admission in some of the Universities.

2.2. For AIEEA-PG-2011:
Bachelor's degree (or appearing in final year examination), in the field of Agriculture,
Veterinary, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries, Horticulture, Home Science, Sericulture, Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering, Forestry, Agri. Marketing Banking and Cooperation, Food Science & Technology, Biotechnology, Process & Food Engineering, Computer Science, Basic and allied sciences under 10+2+5 or 10+2+4 years degree programmes, (Few seats are also available for candidates having Bachelor degree with 10+2+3 year degree programme) with required Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 6.60/10, 3.25/5, 2.60/4 for General, OBC and UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH) categories the said requirement is an OGPA of 5.60/10, 2.75/5, 2.20/4 respectively. In other cases, where grade points are not awarded and only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General, OBC and UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/PH the requirement is 50% marks (Equivalence between OGPA and % marks will not be acceptable). For admission in MVSc candidate must have completed BVSc & AH including internship on the date of counseling. The in-service candidates, seeking admission to ICAR-Deemed universities, should see their respective website.

3. National Talent Scholarship (NTS) is awarded to candidates selected through AIEEA-UG-2011 examination and if joining an Agricultural University located outside their state of domicile.

4. ICAR-JRF (Post Graduate Studies) (PGS): Based on the merit in the AIEEA-PG-2011
examination, about 475 ICAR-Junior Research Fellowships for postgraduate studies (ICARJRF (PGS)) in 20 major subject groups are awarded for two years in Agricultural Universities including State Agricultural Universities, CAU and CUs with agriculture faculty, SHIATS Allahabad and ICAR-DUs, provided their Bachelor degree is not from the same AU (except NDRI Karnal) and the candidates take admission outside their State of domicile. Candidates, currently studying for their Master's degree in 1st year, can also appear in AIEEA-PG-2011 examination for securing ICARJRF(PGS). However, if a ICAR-JRF(PGS) holder seeks fresh admission, entire amount of fellowship received by him/her shall have to be refunded with interest and he/she will not be entitled for fresh ICAR-JRF(PGS).

5. Reservation: 15% seats in all subjects are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST). Horizontal reservation of 3% for Physically Handicapped (PH), and 2% for Under-Privileged States (UPS) category is also available. Reservation for OBC in Central Educational Institutions/ Universities will be as per Government of India directives/ University rules. Reservation in PH and UPS categories will be horizontal across all categories, i.e. such candidates would draw their seat from the SC/ST/OBC/GEN categories to which they may belong.

6. Question Paper for AIEEA-UG-2011:
There will be only one question paper consisting of 180 multiple-choice objective type questions, in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Agriculture) for "STREAM–A" and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for "STREAM–B". The question paper will be in ENGLISH and HINDI.
7. Question Paper for AIEEA-PG-2011:
There will be only one question paper in each major subject group consisting of 150 multiple-choice, objective type questions, and also 10 cross-matching type questions.

The three national institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture will conduct a Joint Entrance
Test – Agri Business Management (JET – ABM) on Sunday, March 27, 2011 for selection
of candidates to their respective Post-Graduate Programmes in Agri Business Management
recognized by AICTE.

(i) National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Rajendranagar,
Hyderabad – 500 030 – PGDM(ABM)
(ii) Choudhary Charan Singh National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (CCS-NIAM),
Bambala, Kota Road, Jaipur – 302 033 - PGDM(ABM) and
(iii)National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Indian Council of

• JET-ABM Registration: The application form can be filled online at www.jetabm.gov.in.
Alternatively application form for JET-ABM may be downloaded from the websites of
respective institutions i.e., http://www.manage.gov.in, http://www.ccsniam.gov.in,
http://www.naarm.ernet.in.

The application form and detailed instructions may also be obtained by post by sending a
request along with an Indian Postal Order / Demand Draft of Rs.100/- to any of the three
institutions. The envelope seeking requests for hard copies of applications must be marked
“Application for JET-ABM, 2011”.
